Great post. You can also get indexed in google within 24 hours by submitting press releases to high PR rand news media websites. It even works in hours sometimes and you don't have to wait a whole day. There is a trick to it, though. You have to use a niche keyword or keyphrase in the Press Release title and not one of those broad competitive keyword phrases. After you have submitted your press release, use the press release link and submit to digg, propeller, dropjack, and other similar bookmark websites.

Great post. The insight about Digg explains why I rarely if ever see any increase in traffic after posting there. Now knowing Digg is primarily tech helps too.

The information about Reddit and Netscape is priceless and I will have accounts with them before days end...Thanks so much for the information

This reminds me of what www.filmcrave.com has done. It seems like I see them on everything from digg to reddit to netscape and beyond. A social networking site centered around movies seems to maybe have found what it was looking for. Members coming in fast. It seems they have at least somewhat followed your advice.

[...] The unfortunate fact is that you can’t just build a website and expect it to succeed. You need to get eyeballs on your site. That’s where web promotion comes in. I highly recommend starting things off by using the tips I give in 5 Steps To Jumpstart Your Website. But even that’s not enough. You’ll need to leverage linkage from the very getgo. Do you know someone who already has a presence on the web who might be able to help you out? If so, get some link love. If not, you’ll have to go Mining for Text Link Ads and while you’re at it, probably get hooked to them like crack. [...]

I'm pretty new to blogging, and I really wanted to get more traffic. I submitted to reddit and Netscape, and the next day went from about 18 hits a day to over 130! Thanks!

[...] Ryan’s article can be found here. I’m going to give all five of Ryan’s steps a try, and I’ll let you know about my results. If you try out his five steps, be sure and comment here about the results you get. The hard part will be writing the articles themselves. Writing articles is a time-consuming effort, and oftentimes it is hard to get started. For those willing to put forth the effort, though, the payoff can be a big one, according to Ryan and others. Well, I’m off to write some articles!
Thanks for the tips! Digg does seem to be over-rated. I'll definitely be trying Reddit and Netscape and will pass on the results that are obtained.
