A Little Blog Niche Experiment

May 18th, 20077 Comments

I’ve decided to do a little experiment. A few weeks ago I bought about 9 new sites from Raj Dash over at Performancing. One of those sites is a car blog called Ride Lust (great, brandable name, btw).

The site has no page rank and only about 60 articles. It makes very little money. So why’d I buy it?

Well, for one, I didn’t want to start a new blog from scratch. But I also saw in this blog a real opportunity to grab a popular niche by the throat. I love the name of the site. And I decided that I’m going to run an experiment. I’m paying a blogger $500/month to write 5 short posts per day.

After the success of PopCrunch, I’m more convinced than ever that the key to big monetization is grab a niche by the throat and go full throttle.

Nice idea, definitely let us know how it goes. Would be interested to know where you find a writer at that price as well.

Hi,

Looking forward to following your progress here. I would also like to know where you found your writer.

I don’t think that you paid blogger $500 to post 4-5 short posts a day.

Julian, I was clear about this but the agreement was $500 + 25% profit sharing. However, the agreement hasn’t panned out, as you can see.
