How to start blogging
Recently I was browsing a forum and I someone asked “How do I start blogging?” They asked a little bit more than that, but they wanted to know how to start a blog, how to get traffic, and how to make money. I’m trying to avoid writing too much about blogging here because I’ll have plenty of time to write about blogging wants me latest project launches, but I’m going to answer the question the best I can.
I started blogging because it was something I thought sounded like fun. I didn’t start because I wanted to make money, I just enjoyed writing about poker. This blog is making a little bit of money, but not much. My point is that you should not start blogging because there is money involved. The amount of work you’ll put into your blog will not be worth the amount of money you’ll make from it.
If you want traffic, write with passion about unique topics. It’s a simple formula really. It doesn’t take years of work to get traffic if you’re writing about things people want to read about. TechCrunch is in the Technorati Top 100 after just 8 months. Why? Michael writes about Web 2.0 topics with passion and he writes well. He has unique content and it can’t be found anywhere else. If you can’t produce unique content you won’t get any traffic, it’s that simple.
If you know what you want to write about and you think you can do it better than everyone else, give it a shot. And if you’re going to write about your personal life it better be pretty damn exciting, I don’t care what you ate for dinner.

Great post. I absolutely agree about the unique content thing. People don’t want to hear you babble/reblog about things they can hear about everywhere else.
