Is it time to redesign your blog?
Gone are the days when blogging’s just for blurting out teenage, marital or personal angst. To date, blogs serve a lot of purpose – sales, advertising, service exposition, money-making, etc. If your blog gets on one of these goals, there can be numerous reasons to redesign. Is it time for you to change your blog design? Read on to find out.
1. Personal choice
To start with, it’s your own blog. If you feel like you want to add or change something in it, then you can – easily. When doing so, however, don’t focus too much on the layout that you compromise the content. Remember that content is still the core element of your page.
2. Brand has to be refocused.
At the start of the year, for example, you resolved to take entrepreneurship as the theme for your blog. On mid-November, though, you planned to change your scope and zero in on gym business. With this change in content, you might as well remodel your layout and transform it to something more fitting.
3. Readers and/or clients request for it.
There may be times when you receive feedbacks from readers and/or clients about your blog’s look and feel. Whether they be positive or negative comments, it’s best to study and follow them accordingly. They are the ones who patronize your blog after all. Nonetheless, take into consideration your personal choice.
4. Page has gotten cluttered.
If you’re hosting advertisements on your page and get a lot of requests from advertisers, you usually think it’s good to accommodate all. What you do is fit their ads on empty spaces, and everything just appears messy. Maybe you can redesign your blog and allot a potion of it exclusively for ads.
5. Poor navigation
Note that one major goal for bloggers is to attract readers and check on everything in store for them in your blog. Nevertheless, this can be tough if your page has poor navigation (e.g. hyperlinks don’t work or the navigation bar’s in the wrong position). Consider making the necessary changes.

Hi Celine,
Very informative post.I agree that the content is key on a blog. However, I have seen blogs that have great content, but the look, feel, layout, time taken to load due to the overwhelming amount of ads, videos etc., is so offputting that they are losing out on valuable customers. My mentor James Brausch has an excellent blog, one of the things I found very impressive when I first discovered him. Not only does it have great content but it has a refreshing clean look and feel. James, if you haven’t heard of him is a very successful marketer and is famous for his own sofware products e.g. Nemeas, Freedom Business System etc. Other marketers have started to model their blogs designs on his which is a testament to how successful he really is. The points you mention are well worth adhering to for all would be bloggers and even for the seasoned ones.
