New College Startup Blogger

Hi everyone, I’m Celine. :-) In a previous post by Ryan, he mentioned that he was looking for a writing partner here at College Startup. Of course, I was more than enthusiastic to apply.
I’m currently in the third year of pursuing my BFA, Major in Painting and Minor in Graphic Design. To pay for tuition, art supplies, and living expenses, I pursued multiple income streams. I’ll be mentioning them often in future posts. Basically, here they are:
1) I am a web content provider. This is the biggest source of my income. I started Web Content Wow in 2004. If you go to the site, I currently have an outdated design and copy. I’m also in the process of hiring contractors to work with me. I’ll be improving this venture drastically within the coming months. It’s likely that I’ll write a lot about these improvements, especially since they have a lot to do with shifting from the “contractor” to the “entrepreneurial” mindset.
2) I am a video editor. Before I pursued my BFA, I was trying (but failed) to finish a Film program. I learned a lot from my two years as a film student, and one of the most useful things I’ve learned was video editing. It’s a more tiring task than content writing and doesn’t pay as much. Most of my clients are college students who need videos for school presentations. I don’t do any marketing for this venture, but word-of-mouth referrals have done me a world of good.
3) My partner and I are trying to get our webdesign service off the ground. This venture is still pretty much in its infancy stage, and it’s more of my partner’s baby than mine. So far, we’ve got only 1 client, but he’s interested in a long-term business relationship.
I also have some other minor sidelines such as making and selling chocolates, selling my artwork (I’ve only sold 2!), and (gasp!) doing my classmates’ homework and papers for a fee. I may or may not be lying about that last bit.
I’m looking forward to posting more on College Startup.
Hopefully, you guys will find my posts useful and informative.
