Crafting The Perfect College Startup
First off I’d like to say hello to everyone who reads this blog. I want to run a quick series on crafting the perfect college startup. The first hope step is that you already have your own personal blog.
Having your own personal blog is a hugely important step in any college startup IMO. Who knows what I would do without a solid personal blog to lean back on when times were lean. I can remember my first ’startup’ it was a series of blogs that I later sold many of them at a decent rate.
One of the things that was touched on recently has been leveraging your online profile for offline revenue. And I think this would make a great ‘college-startup’. Find an offline business that you can partner with in marketing their products. The goal is simple find a startup in what I call a ‘Virgin Niche’ a place where there just aren’t a ton of people marketing in that field very efficiently online.
I’d love to give some examples. Here’s a great one. Let’s say I lived in Missoula,Montana and attended the University of Montana. I would partner with a local manufacturer of flys, and fly rods. While the market is ‘tough’ its not something that would be impossible to break into for a new website. Working with a local manufacturer you would find the growth slow and steady but after a year or two you would have yourself a successful offline business as well as online business. And the fly fishing is great around Missoula especially in the Blackfoot River. That’s just one idea. Let’s talk more about how to form a partnership like this and see what it’s going to take to become successful offline and online.
