I agree with both comments in that creativity and intelligence must both be part of the process to create a successful anything.

My suggestion is to add user involvement in a more direct way, something that has helped make Ask A Ninja (http://www.askaninja.com/) such a success. When you introduce a way for an audience to directly affect the content, it usually works out pretty well for everyone.

Nick,
I think you are right for the most part. But keep in mind that both Colbert and Stewart aren't just sarcastic. They are informative, witty and intelligent.

The fact is that most people will fail at this sort of thing, but the people who have what it takes, the passion and the creativity, could take it for a long and successful ride.

One way to collectively succeed might be to create a portal for college video. Then people wouldn't have to succeed on their own.

Interesting idea. Myspace and facebook are good ways to gain some exposure and viewers.

The main obstacle would be creating original, interesting content. With all of the other sources of content and entertainment in college, the programming would have to be superior to keep viewers.

Personally, I think the content would have to be somewhat sarcastic or humorous to be successful. I'm thinking something along the lines of The Daily Show or Colbert Report.

But if you can get good content along with good word of mouth marketing, the return on investment could be pretty attractive for any college student.
