Business Skills For Business Success
Sometimes it’s important to take stock of who you are, where your gifts reside, and to then try to find the best match in the current economy for your skill set. Millions of people are working at jobs they hate, and are thus failing to flourish. Why? Because they aren’t using their skills.
One of the keys to happiness, in my view, is being good at something (having skill) and then using your gifts to accomplish things. A person who is good with his hands and loves working with wood will be happy when he is using his hands and working with wood to make something. But if the same person is put in front of a computer for 12 hours a day, he’ll probably be miserable. Also, if he’s asked to simply cut the same length piece of wood, on the same angle, over and over throughout the day, he probably won’t be happy, because not enough of his skills are being used.
I truly believe that if you are going to try to be an entrepreneur or a business person of any kind, you really need to have the right skill set. You need to be creative, to think big, to think strategically, to find the right people to execute the job. You need to be able to network and leverage. You can’t be passive.
I found the following two articles online that I think do a great job of identifying the skills necessary for entrepreneurship and business leadership. Check them out and do a gut check. Will you be happy as a business person? As an entrepeneur? Do you have what it takes?
