New Year’s Resolutions: What’s Your Status?
It is indeed too early to talk about your business resolutions for next year. But if you’re one of the millions who drew up a list this January, then maybe it wouldn’t hurt if you check up on how loyal you have been to ‘resolving’ those on your list.
Recall the To Do’s and Not To Do’s that you listed. (Surely you still remember them all, don’t you?) By far, how many and which in the list have you followed strictly? How about those you have followed with just a so-so attitude or have not followed at all?
For those things that you have followed and done just right, just keep up the discipline and stick to them. If you have kept them until now, they’re probably those you’re quite devoted to and really resolved to do.
For those things on your list that you have problem sticking to at all, you probably need to backtrack a bit. Ask yourself. Why did I include these in my list? How important are these things to my business or goals as an entrepreneur? What would I get if I do these things right? Basically, just remind yourself of the advantages and benefits of staying faithful to your list. That should reinvigorate you to exert more effort in fulfilling those on your list.
But if you have tried or have been trying to do that and you still don’t get a renewed drive do your new year’s resolution, perhaps try to backtrack a bit further. Why did I really include these/this in my list? Are these really important to my business? Do I really want to get what I would get if I do these things right?
If you’ve included some things in your list just for the sake of including them or because almost everybody has them in theirs, drop them out. Admit that you just want list fillers. Do not include in your new year’s resolution those which you really don’t need or are not into. Otherwise, they’d just take up space in your memory. Just be realistic by having achievable goals.
Keep a hard copy of your list maybe in your planner or organizer or on your bedroom wall. Have a pal with whom you’ll regularly talk to regarding your resolutions’ progress. Do anything that you think would keep you on track to fulfilling your resolutions at least until December 31 this year.
