Starting out on a business? Here are some basic things you must remember as a budding entrepreneur. In fact, they’re so basic it’d be a mortal sin to forget them when you’re already a full-pledged business person.

Establish networks. Take good care of your connections for they could serve as channels for your service or product, especially when you still can’t afford advertising.

Don’t be easily discouraged. Successful people have either very strong hold on their convictions and beliefs, or supportive people around them. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak-spirited.

Be flexible. Learn to be dynamic and adapt to trends. To be able to make innovations in business, you should be able to make innovations in the way you think and see the world.

Don’t hesitate to assert yourself. If you think the ordered package you got is one widget short, complain for the short delivery. Don’t settle for less or others would take advantage.

Read up and train yourself. With all the different kinds of media available, you don’t have any reason not to be updated. Read, read and read.

Secure cash flow. This is the most important rule as any business will slowly dry up with cash deficits. Manage your finances wisely. Needless to say, don’t get what you can do away with.

Plan your activities. It pays to have all your to-do’s planned and listed down neatly. A good entrepreneur should also know how to stick with the timetable he makes.

Be humble. Accept your mistakes and correct them. Likewise, if you find someone smarter than you are, you should only be positively envious – respect the person and let him teach you. Absorb the helpful lessons you’ll get from him – as that’s another way of being wise.

Risk, but reasonably. Remember that everything is a gamble and you’ll never know what could happen next. It’s cool to worry about it, but not too much. Once you’re in business, think things through and carefully assess your next steps.
