5 Things You Can Do to Get Out of a Business Slump
You can’t expect upward spirals for the entirety of the ride, nor can you expect gold to pour into your coffers consistently. Your business’ income may dwindle: you may be unable to find new clients, or your current clients can be ordering less. It’s a slump, you tell your self, but it isn’t the end of the world. After all, there is no other way but up. Sometimes, even the way up can open new doors for you as you seek to improve your business and take risks.
At times like these, remedies are in order! I have a few tips that may help you pick up your business from that proverbial ditch it sometimes falls into.
Ramp it up on the upsell. Your customers may need that little push out the door to upgrade their purchase. Remember, every little thing counts and upselling increases your revenues from current customers. If, for example, you’re selling PSPs, you may want to suggest a protective casing for the device, or a game to go with it. Always try to upsell something that is related to the product your customer is buying. In fact, they just might appreciate your thoughtfulness and initiative.
Reel them in with a discount or promo. Anything that is sold at a fraction of the price will draw customers. Giving them that discount or a ‘buy 3, take 1′ promo can help them make the choice to purchase your product. Everyone loves a sale and what you get in return, is customer loyalty.
Hold a contest. The key to this is to keep your customer’s attention, enough that he stays awhile and takes a look at your product. A contest on your website, in which the winner can receive a prize, will draw more eyes to your page and eventually to your store. Again, if you sell PSPs and games, you can hold an essay-writing contest about people’s favorite games. It can be as simple as that.
Find a worthy cause & host/sponsor an event in your community. You not only feel better about your business, but people can also feel good about where their money is going. When you sponsor an event, and offer to give your products for free, you make sure that more eyes and ears are open to your business.
Do the things suggested, do more, and keep doing it. Consistency will keep you in everyone’s mind.
A slump shouldn’t get you down. A good businessperson always has the mind to see opportunity in everything and in every situation.
