A new design (obviously)

December 9th, 20057 Comments

In case you’re blind, or a new visitor, I launched the new design today. My goal was by the end of the week, so I went ahead and uploaded all the files. There are still a few quirks and the About page isn’t done, but overall I am happy with how it looks.

I need to clean up the code a lot, and the CSS is a little messy and there are some redundant style rules, but I have learned a lot about CSS in the past year and everytime I redesign or create a new site I learn even more. If you’re using an obscure browser and something looks funny, let me know. I can’t promise I’ll care, but I’ll definitely look into fixing the problem.

Anyways, let me know what you think of the design. My goals were simplicity, contrast, and a good user experience. I think I did a pretty good job, but I’ll be tweaking the design for a little while to get it all looking good.

The colours make my eyes hurt, but they did that before, so I suppose at least it’s consistent!

Other than being overly bright, it’s definately a big improvement. I see you’ve taken the ‘big’ trend on board.

Looks Great! Seems like you’ve been talking to Garrett Dimon, hehe. :-)

Besides that green you’re using, I like it. Might I suggest you make the ads stretch horizontally instead one on top of each other to be less obstructive.

Awesome new design Ben.

One thing though, is there a reason you don’t let your post title be listed in the title tag? It will help with SEO and also allow people like me who bookmark your stuff to easily bookmark a page wth having to edit the name ourselves.

Share your thoughts!!!
