Help Me Choose The New College Startup Logo

August 17th, 20073 Comments

I’d love to get your help on something. College Startup is getting a new logo designed. I’m at a stage where I’m having trouble picking among very similar logos and would love it if CS readers could take a look at the following logos and give me some feedback. Which two or three do you like best? The differences are subtle…but…make a difference.

Keep in mind that this logo will be going with a modified version of the estranged theme.

Oh, and btw, I’m getting this logo designed for free by Logo Design Works.

1, 1.1 and 1.6 are the two I think are the strongest. The other fonts don’t communicate “college” as much to me and they are, for the most part, too heavy.

The tag line has too much weight I think. I’m not sure it needs to be bold. On #1, the tag should align with the left edge of the text. I think on both of them, the tag should extend the width of the title.

On the icon, to me it says money for textbooks or money for reading more than college startup/business. I’m guessing since that is the only idea being displayed, that you have already settled on that.

Not sure you wanted a full critique, but there you go.

1.9 then 1.6
the 1.6 startup might just be a bit too bold though

1 and 1.6

1 is more serious, 1.6 is more like new ProBlogger logo.

I’m leaning towards 1 for it’s possible integration with the Estranged theme.

I’m leaning towards 1.6 for it’s bold and youthful nature.
