Innovation in big companies
I was browsing my Bloglines feeds and I came across a link to this post by Kareem Mayan discussing the reasons that big companies (most of them anyway) stifle innovation.
I have always thought that new ideas were driven by entrepreneurs and small teams, but he points out that Google has launched a lot of innovative services and gone “against the grain” as far as conventional web application wisdom is concerned. Google is one of the few big companies I’d be interested in working for – because of their ability to create and fund new, innovative ideas.
This is just a quick post, but definitely check out Kareem’s post, it provides a lot more insight into the differences between small and big companies.

Hi Ben,
I think a lot of Google’s innovation is driven by small teams, and that’s what makes the company so interesting: it’s got 4000+ plus employees yet manages to innovate like crazy.
