Refocusing and motivation
Lately I have been neglecting my blogs and websites. I do have a few excuses, and I did just launch a new design for this site (that’s still not working perfectly, but I’ll fix that this week), but even so I feel like I haven’t been focusing on my web sites. I came up with a solution though! I am setting a goal.
My goal is to earn $2,000 winter quarter from my existing websites. That means that by March I will need to have earned $2,000 from domains that I currently own. I do have one inactive domain that I think could provide the majority of that but I will not be investing in new websites or blogs until March. I think it will give me time to really focus on getting the most out of my current projects. If I keep buying new domains and launching new sites I’ll spread myself too thin and not be able to provide valuable content.
I plan on recommiting myself to The Poker Blog, College-Startup, and making tweaks to some of my content sites.
I’ve already started working towards the goal -
I did a redesign of SumpPumpSecrets.com today. It looks sloppy, I know, but my goal is lots of clicks on the advertisements and a high placement in the search engines. Right now the site averages about $0.75/day. I want that to jump to $2.00 a day. I know it’s possible because I have had several days where the earnings were $3.00+, but I have had too many days with $0.00.
Next I am going to focus on optimizing The Poker Blog and integrate advertisements more carefully. So far it has not lived up to my expectations, but I think that’s because of the amount of work I have put into it. If I work hard at SEO and post quality content, I think I could get a lot more out of it. I will also be working with Steve more carefully to make sure we write about interesting topics and connect more with readers - we currently get almost no comments.
WIth this website I am hoping to do more interviews and write a lot more about making money and entrepreneurship. My interview with Mike Rundle got a lot of great feedback and I think people will enjoy learning more from young, “influential” people in the blogging/web2.0/entrepreneurship/etc/whatever community. I have a few people I want to interview, but if you can think of anyone else (or if you think you should get interviewed) email me!

Glad to hear that Ben,
I have some goals of myslef but they are not at the high standard as $2000. RIght my 1st goal is write a once every two days on my new blog. And to complete my other content sites that I was encouraged to start.
