Smart Snacking for Student Entrepreneurs
If you think it’s cool to munch on sodas and your favorite junk foods whenever it’s time for lunch, think a hundred times again. You may not know it, but you may be on your way to becoming diabetic, hypertensive, or worse, both. So toss the habit and load up on delicious heart healthy snacks! Because of what they can do for your disposition and energy levels, they might make you a healthier and happier student entrepreneur.
Here’s a list of food and drinks you can try.
SNACKS
1. Fresh vegetable/fruit salad. Fresh fruits and veggies are high in vitamins, fiber and antioxidants – not to mention the lack of fat. You don’t have to count calories and feel guilty after snacking on this delicious combination of vegetables or fruits. The choice of dip is yours.
2. Home-made smoothies. Pearl shakes can be very nutritious if made with fresh fruits. As some commercial shakes have too much sweeteners in them, it’s better to make your own smoothie. You can do this by combining your favorite fruit bits, yogurt or milk and ice.
3. A pack of raisins. Unlike junk foods that get you slacking off after eating, a pack of raisins can give all the energy you need to continue with work. It is high in protein and antioxidants, and low in calories and fats.
4. Whole wheat bread. Grains are healthy for the body, especially for the heart. Bread can make a good snack with its high energy and fiber content.
DRINKS
1. Water. Purified drinking water should always be the first choice of beverage. After all, it’s still the best thirst quencher, and it’s available wherever you go.
2. Green tea. Nobody can deny the benefits one can derive from tea. Whether you have in mind weight loss, body cleansing or beautifying, green tea is always the right beverage to dig.
3. Fresh fruit juices. Drinking freshly squeezed fruit juice is good as eating fresh fruit. If fresh fruit juice isn’t available for blending, however, a glass of powdered juice is okay.
4. Low-fat or fat-free milk. Dairy products benefit not just your bones, but also your overall state of health. A good source of calcium and protein, milk keeps you on the go – always. Yogurt is also a good substitute.

And don’t forget there are alot more healthy options. Homeade trail mix is a fav of mine. I like to get two bowls next to me, one filled with dry cherries and the other with raw walnuts or pecans and chew them together. Dried fruits in general are good, and easy to come by. Yogurt is excellent as long as you stay away from the ones aimed at kids. Green tea, tho mentioned, is truly amazing. Two weeks of drinking nothing but pure green tea will change your metabolism and give you a completely new feeling in your life.
