Sump Pump Secrets update
Sump Pump Secrets is the site I created to experiment with content sites - you can read my post about it if you’re not familiar with the idea. So far it has been going well. In the past few days I’ve earned an average of $0.75/day from AdSense.
I also implemented Chitika eMiniMalls on the site. It hasn’t been up long enough for me to track an results, but I think I’m going to use their program a lot more. I really like the way the ads look and I feel like it offers visitors something, which is very important. I need to learn more about optimizing the ads, but they seemed very easy to set up. They site also lets me define which keywords I want them to show ads for on my site, meaning there aren’t any mistakes by picking up the wrong words in my content (like Google does sometimes).
Obviously I’d like to earn more than that $0.75/day, but I think I’ll have to wait for Google to update the PageRank before I get much traffic. I think the site has a lot of potential, I just need to get it on the first page of listings for the major search phrases - like sump pump, installing sump pumps, etc.
Until then I might experiment with a Google’s AdWords campaign. I have created a few campaigns in the past, so I’m already familiar with the system and how to create successful ads. I’m actually excited to try using AdWords in conjunction with Google Analytics to try to track my visitors and conversion rates.
The sump pump niche has been fun to experiment with and it’s definitely let me see the potential of content sites. I am still going to focus on my goal of having 15 content sites up by the end of February, which means I need to start gathering niche ideas this week and start looking into domain names.

Great update Ben!
I’m gonna put a bit of time into my sump pumps site this week. I’m getting a stronger pull of traffic but a really low AdSense click-through rate, which I think has a lot to do with the placement on the page.
Keep up the good work! $0.75 a day is an awesome start :).
