Where to network inside campus premises
While you’re a student entrepreneur, it’s best to create connections with people who can help you keep business on the go. And because you’re confined to the walls of your classroom most of the time, it’s most practical to do so inside campus.
Business connections are not necessarily people you know. They can also be people you never had encounters with – friends of friends, friends of teachers, etc. Whichever the case, however, it’s important to make sure these individuals can give significant contributions to your biz. Ditch off all inhibitions and try your luck with the following:
Student organizations. If you’re a member of an organization, especially one that’s geared towards business, it will be easier for you to connect with other student groups. If you don’t have one, however, you can target student organizations as your potential customers.
Instructors. Though it’s pretty awkward, you can ask your teachers to help you promote your biz and find sponsors. Instructors usually have a significant number of connections they can refer you to.
Guest speakers. If you get to attend business seminars and it seems like something about your business is relevant to the discussion, bring it up. Introduce yourself and let them know about your business.
Visiting prospective students and their parents. If you’re a volunteer guide, you can let “plug” your business or products during the tour, if it’s something your group can benefit from. Always make sure, however, that it’s not against the handbook.
Parties. As in any social gathering, you can talk about anything you want in a party. The better if you get the chance to speak in front as you can segue into an introduction of your biz. If not, come up with small group talks and have some insights presented.
