College, business, and dating - can you handle it?
College is a great place to come across like-minded people with similar interests. A lot of people meet their future life partners while studying. However, relationships can be a very complicated thing to handle. Coupled with the stresses of regular college life, especially for freshmen, the challenges of making anything meaningful out of it can be daunting.
Define life
College is about lunches, sleeping during classes and then trying to figure out what the professor was babbling about while you were unconscious. Faced with new found freedom away from parents, most college students focus on “expanding their horizons”, usually through bars, night outs, gatherings and whatever other get-together that involves beer.
First impressions last
As with any collection of single people crammed into a small room for hours on end, eventually you will find someone that either interests you or interested in you, provided that they don’t know you and are unaware of your juvenile records. College relationships are unavoidable, and can be as confusing, embarrassing, and awkward as college life itself.
Choose your enterprise
Engaging in a relationship at an exceptionally confusing time is not that all of a bad thing, though. Chances are the person you’re planning to have a relationship with is going through the same exact experiences, and you can try to figure things out together rather than trying to understand things on your own. If she’s in your class then your courses might be related in some way, and she might be able to help with any businesses you might be interested in.
My personal experience
I invited my girlfriend to join my online ventures because she’s very organized, a great planner, and a good writer. However, since we’re both really independent individuals, it took a while before she and I were able to work together smoothly. But after we got to work out the kinks, both the business ventures and our relationship were much better. So in the end, it all depends on your personality, the other person, and what your relationship is like.
It’s inevitable
So can college, business, and dating go together? It’s definitely possible, probably unavoidable, and the only real way to make it work is to choose a business you both know and have interest in. That way, your significant other will be more of an advantage than a liability. Like sex, business is more fun with someone else.
