Desperate seed money options for college students, entrepreneurs
Whether you are desperate for some seed money for a business idea, or just money in general during college, there are a few options available to you. While they’re relatively easy, they do have some physical consequences so they probably shouldn’t be relied on for income, hence, my recommendation to use these mediums for a bit of seed business monies.
Research Institutes
Scattered around the US, usually in larger markets, you’ll find some research institutes that test a variety of [pretty] safe medications on participants, in exchange for your time, hassle, risk, and discomfort. The center that I am familiar with, and have friends who have attended, is the PRACS institute. Their typical programs last an entire weekend or so, and require a couple returns for more tests to see how their sleep medication affected you. These weekend studies pay up to $700, but if you opt for an entire week long study, you can make up to $3,000. Not bad for laying around, watching movies, reading, and studying all day.
Selling Plasma
There are a lot of for profit blood centers around the US nowadays, which usually allow you to sell your plasma once a week for anywhere from $15-$50, depending on the center. The process only takes a little over an hour I am told, and it is not too painful. The drawbacks are that losing plasma will definitely decrease your energy level, and selling your blood often can cause vein scars which can also become visible. There are other stipulations as well which hinge on your answers regarding your health and medical history.
While I don’t really plan on selling my plasma, I wouldn’t mind trying out an inclusive research study since it’s easy money and would provide a good retreat to refocus and brainstorm some other business opportunities. Also, if you’re thinking I forgot about selling another body fluid, I advise against it since it could actually end up costing you lots of money and hassle.
