To add a few timeless business books that every entrepreneur should read:

1) Rich Dad Poor Dad - The foundation and inspiration of my own entrepreneurial spirit. Showed me that not having a job is possible.

2)E-Myth Revisited - Another inspirational business book. Reminds you to make a business, not a job. Definitely a must read, especially for new entrepreneurs.

Oh, I love the E-Myth Revisited, although it seemed to get too long winding with the “dialogue”. The lessons are very, very important though - if you want a real business instead of just freelancing.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is great for inspiration, but I wouldn’t take the financial advise seriously. Several finance bloggers have written extensively about it:

Honestly, I haven’t finished E-Myth Revisited, but I got the message from the book, which is what matters most. So I agree with your thoughts on the dialogue.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a good book to give readers a general idea. Really it’s just an ‘aha’ type of book that is good to enlighten those who have never considered becoming an entrepreneur seriously..even though they have the drive.

I haven’t taken the time to read the john t reed stuff even though I’ve heard of it for years, because frankly it’d be a waste of time for me. I dont think RDPD was ever meant to be a detailed financial plan, as much as it was meant to be a general idea/inspiration type book anywhow.

I can’t believe ‘From Good to Great’ by Jim Collins is not on this list. A Big part of my inspiration as I founded Pazap, a mission to get cheaper used textbooks for college students. I can give you what has echoed in my mind from the book in a sentence: It may take years to find your thing, but it’ll be worth it when you do, and be honest about what you’re NOT good at…

I’ll def check out the other books recommended here..
