Creative ways to get capital
There is still hope if you want to start a business but don’t have any capital. Many business tycoons started out without a penny in their pockets. You should be able to as well. You just have to squeeze out those stored creative juices and take every opportunity you can to be able to get that badly needed capital.
Have a donation jar in your dorm room. If you have a gaming console, hint at people who want to borrow it that you’d like a donation for the business you want to start. Or if people want you to fix their computer, help them with homework, and other similar services.
Look under the couch cushions. Some spare change is bound to be lying around somewhere in your dorm room, your parents’ house, in train or bus seats or floors, etc. Don’t feel self-pity or embarrassment if you do this. You need the money. Why pretend you don’t want to grab that ten-dollar bill crumpled in the bus seat?
Find a partner with enough money. Your partner can be active or a silent partner. If he won’t partner up with you because of the inevitable toil, you can offer a pretty business deal (for him, that is): you work, he finances.
Perform! Bring out your talents. Mime, play the guitar, paint portraits, compose songs or poems – do anything entertaining or unique in you – but of course with a tip jar or for a fee.
Bartering. Capital doesn’t have to be in the form of money. If you’re a designer and want your own portfolio website, you can approach a web host or someone with large web space and ask for some server space in exchange for designing one of their sites, etc.
Join contests with prizes. Either target the cash or the item prize that you need you’re your business.
Ask loved ones for donation. You can ask your parents, relatives, and friends to help you by chipping in any amount for your capital. There’s a way to do this without looking like you’re begging.
Take advantage of holidays or vacations. Do some capital-free rackets. Drag your friends to sing Christmas carols in every house in your block. Be a cupid messenger on Valentine’s day. Do extra house chores during summer break.
