Defining A 3rd Market: The iPad?

I’m still trying to come to grips with the iPad. Maybe I just need to use one to really let it all sink in. Or maybe not. Maybe because of my lack of overwhelming enthusiasm, Apple failed to define their 3rd market (depending on who you ask, maybe their 4th market). Or maybe I’m just not the target of their 3rd market.

The jury is out. But one question I have for ya’ll is this: what group makes up the center of the market for the iPad?

Here’s what sells it for me. Think of your iPad on a table during a party. Someone mentions a movie, and you want to know the guy who did that thing in that one scene. Boom, pull up IMDB, and share the information quickly. And I think that’s Apple’s goal here. The iPhone is ok for looking up information like that, but it’s just not fast enough.
