SEO Warfare For Your New Startup

June 23rd, 20071 Comment

I’ve been helping out on a few different web projects like I talked about in my last post. I want to discuss a concern that every web developer has when starting a new site.

The Sandbox

The Sandbox is as a probation period for new sites that The Google uses to protect the quality of its search engine results.

I’m going to do a hybrid experiment on my new projects in order to ‘work around’ the sandbox. Some would recommend using a direct method of creating the site on a new domain and then duplicating the content on an older domain and doing a 301 redirect.

I’d imagine this could potentially work to some degree. But what if it doesnt? I want to surround myself with plenty of protection in order to make sure this works.

My new site and for all encompassing test purposes is Natural Log Siding. Brand new shiny domain. For sure in The Sandbox. I have 2 other domains that are not in the sandbox. So what I’m going to do is create a category on the one domain and write posts that will end up eventually on Natural Log Siding, the new site.

All the while I’m still going to be doing everything I can to develop links and high quality content on the new site but I’m also going to attempt to encourage my way out of the sandbox.

I still believe a large portion of your focus and mine should be on developing high quality cornerstone content on the new site but by utilizing a hybrid content method I believe we should be able to rank for some of these higher value terms more quickly and with less work.
